The Arizona host committee will leverage Greenbuild 09 (GB09) to educate Arizonans about the need for, and benefits of, green building and assist USGBC in providing off-site educational sessions in the Phoenix Metro area during GB09. The Community Education subcommittee will develop an implementation plan with actions and timelines designed to meet objectives and will document their ongoing efforts to guide GB10 planning efforts.

Objective per MOU:
• Assist USGBC in developing and implementing at least eight off-site education opportunities for GB09 registrants
• Develop, secure USGBC approval of and release Off-site education session RFP
• Evaluate entries, determine recommended finalists, secure GB09 host committee approval and present to GB09 Program committee for approval
• Assist USGBC with final education session implementation

Objective per Host Committee:
• Develop and implement in partnership with like-minded organizations an off-site education session for the Arizona GB community focusing on issues and practices of particular interest to the Arizona
• Develop and implement an educational program for Arizona’s municipal leadership focused on green building opportunities, challenges and best policies and practices presented by municipal leaders from cities with leading sustainability programs
• Coordinate and brand AZ Countdown to Greenbuild existing USGBC-AZ and branch education efforts and leverage GB09 momentum beyond GB09
• Coordinate in partnership with branch leadership a “Greenbuild 101” session for first-time GB attendees featuring a panel of chapter GB veterans designed to help chapter members get the most our of GB09
• Document ongoing efforts and create a report for the GB09 host committee manual comprising the subcommittee’s plan, its best practices and lessons learned

3/15/09 Deliver to host executive committee subcommittee plan
3/19/09 Release Off-site Education session RFP
4/17/09 Deadline for Off-site education session entries
4/27/09 Secure recommended finalists approval from GB09 host executive committee
4/29/09 Present finalists to GB09 Programs committee for approval
6/10/09 Deliver to USGBC all marketing materials
11/30/09 Deliver to host executive committee final subcommittee report
