The Arizona host committee will help USGBC plan and conduct Greenbuild 09 (GB09) in a highly sustainable manner and inspire downtown Phoenix to embrace sustainable practices. The Greening the Community subcommittee will develop an implementation plan with actions and timelines designed to meet their objectives and document their efforts to guide GB10 planning efforts.
Objective per MOU:
Assist the USGBC Greening Consultant with local contacts, resources and actions that ensure GB09 functions in a highly sustainable manner.
Objectives per Host Committee:
• Advance a sustainability standard for the Convention Center events
• Strive to create a GB09 legacy of green business practices by raising area businesses’ awareness of GB09 greening efforts and communicating green practices
• Assist USGBC communicating and promoting to GB09 attendees public transportation options
• Assist GB09 subcommittees in lowering the environmental impact of their activities
• Provide the PR/Media subcommittee with “greening” story ideas
• Coordinate with Volunteer subcommittee for volunteer recruitment and training
• Document efforts and create a report for the GB09 host committee manual comprising the subcommittee’s plan, its best practices, and lessons learned
